this is another of my few latest creations...
I wanted to do something different,I had so many ideas but not many actually materialize (as usual).
I like strong colors and I'm always thinking about new things to use in my work.
I used a small Red dice that I bought at the thrift store and I also used some foil for my set up.
I took several pictures and I did it outdoors on a sunny day.
I love the way the foil shines but couldn't get so much of the shinny part in my photos...
What I got were some really interesting reflections on the foil and that's why I decided to paint it.
at the end is all about doing what makes us happy,even if it is something "Strange" or unusual...

This is one of my latest watercolors,It's the iconic "Coit tower" in SF.
I wanted to add simplicity to it and that's why I decided not to add any blue in the background and I also left out branches and or trees on both sides of the building.
I'm always looking for shapes and or lines and color in my subjects and what got my attention on this piece was the shapes at the bottom of the tower.
I just liked the Architectural design of it and the contrast of light and dark of the walls.
I really didn't pay much attention to measurements ,that's probably noticiable...but;oh well!

this is the second painting of what I think will be a series...
I did my initial sketch and I don't know why it took me too long to actually get to paint it,it was probably that I wasn't sure what I wanted to do.
When I finally decided to get it done,it wasn't even close to what I had on mind..oh well!
This Hammer is in the tool shed of a dear friend of mine and every time I open the door it gets so much Sun and have to run for my camera to get some pic's.
again,I'm always looking for contrast,Dark,light...
something that I wasn't able to capture on this painting...
but then again,its not even close to what I originally wanted...LOL
it was meant to be 9"x12" but had to do some cropping,in order to make it look right...
the original painting measures 9" 1/2x 8"

well,it's been a while since I posted something on my blog.
it has been months and months of inactivity,I haven't done much painting lately,but I had to post the two paintings I did a few months ago.
This is a scene I came to,as I was walking out of a local bookstore. I really liked the "set up" of the wheelbarrow in and empty-almost abandoned street.
I couldn't resist the contrast of the Blue tile wall and the white of the Pillar.
that is something I'm always looking for my subjects,contrast ,color...
anyway,it is a watercolor and it measures 12"x16".
it has been painted in arches cold pressed.

This painting started from a quick trip to a local Hardware store.
I took a few photos with my inexpensive but very handy camera,it is my best companion and take it with me wherever I go.
when I downloaded the photos to my computer,I choose what I thought was the best one and I drew a sketch (as accurate as I could) directly to my paper.
Using a mixture of Payne's Gray,Prussian blue,I added some light washes...
Working from light to dark using basic techniques,at the end I had to add a darker wash of Indigo.
I like all the shapes and colors and I saw some kind of abstraction on the whole-shovel composition.
So,I decided to go with a Yellow Background to make the shovels "pop out"
this was my last painting of 2014.

Rainy Day Rainbow started as a project from PMP (Paint My Photo)
The original picture was posted by Barbara tester. I just could not resist the beautiful contrast of colors and shapes.
I changed the tittle but I used the tittle from other of Barbara's Photographs.
this is a Watercolor,painted on Arches (Hot Pressed) it measures 10"x14". and was painted on Oct. the 31st. '14

Lady Liberty started as an exciting project,and exciting but not-so easy project.
I had a few complications with the initial sketch,I couldn't get it right.
When I finally decided to start and even tough I wasn't satisfied with the drawing I applied a few washes (I started with the Background) but for some reason it didn't look right.
then I realized that I didn't save the White spaces for the two last "spikes" of the crown on the lower left.
I wasn't sure if I was going to fix it and really didn't knew what to do with it.
After thinking for a while,this idea came to my mind.
I used real money to cover my mistakes,I had to "spend" a few singles but I think that it was a good investment..
I'd call it mixed media,Watercolor-collage and was painted on Arches (cold Pressed).
